Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, and Reba McEntire took to the stage at the 2025 ACM Awards to deliver an unexpected performance — a brand new song called “Trailblazer,” an anthem that celebrates the strength and journey of women in country music. The lyrics were powerful yet emotional, a testament to perseverance and unwavering desire. But the most moving moment came from the stands: Miranda’s ex-husband Blake Shelton, who sat quietly watching with a look of pride in his eyes. In that moment, respect overcame old wounds, and the love of music brought people together.

“Trailblazer” Is A New Song That Celebrates The Influential Women Of Country Music’s Past And Present

Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, and Lainey Wilson joined forces at the ACM Awards for one of the most meaningful collaborations country music has ever heard.

On Wednesday (May 7), the ACM shared the exciting news that the trio of stars would deliver the world premiere of a brand-new song during its annual awards ceremony on May 8. Titled “Trailblazer,” the track celebrates the influential female artists of country music’s past and present.

Lambert and Wilson co-wrote the track with Brandy Clark. They cried as they wrote it, and McEntire cried when she heard it for the first time.

“I remember listening to it in the dressing room. I couldn’t find a flaw in it, not a word,” McEntire told Billboard. “It was that great. I was very emotional when I heard it.”

The song offers shout-outs to iconic women in country music such as Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and Loretta Lynn. It also includes callouts to McEntire, Lambert, and Wilson’s personal histories and home states.

But Wilson says they hope listeners will connect with “Trailblazer” on an even deeper level:

“I remember thinking that this could be a song that a grandmother and a daughter and a grandchild could listen to, she said. And not just about the history of country music… If we’re not thinking about the people that we’re singing to then they’re not going to be able to relate.”

Lambert doubled down on Wilson’s comments, saying:

“It’s not about us. It’s about what the song means to little girls out there watching, or anyone out there watching that really has a dream or needs to be surrounded by people they love, and needs a little nudge to know they’re not alone.”
